Philly Eco Kids

By templetogether

Philly Eco Kids is a collective effort between Project EDU and the Students for Environmental Action. The program is currently running at the Paul Lawrence Dunbar Elementary School on 12th and Montgomery (behind the Student Center on Temple’s Campus). Volunteer teachers visit students in grades 5-8 (2 or 3 teachers visit each grade individually) during one of their science periods and educate the students about important environmental issues. The sessions run once a month and topics include global climate change, energy consumption, litter and waste, healthy eating, and more. If you are interested in getting involved, either with creating lesson plans or working with the kids, please contact Korin or Alex at phillyecokids@gmail.com. We ask that teachers stay committed for a full semester so as to build a relationship with the students. More volunteers will be needed for the spring semester, and the possible future expansion of the program. Background checks required (click here)
