Presented by The Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia, The Green Restaurant Association and Fair Food, the SustainaFood Green Restaurant Expo is the ultimate Sustainable Resource event for the local Philadelphia-area restaurant, catering and food industries.

The day will kick-off with an educational seminar, including a keynote presentation and panel, discussing stand-out examples of what it takes to retool your business to be ‘green’ and ‘buy local’, a cooperative business model for sharing resources and cutting costs, proven methods to reduce your energy use and your environmental impact, expert advice on commercial reuse, recycling and composting, all tricks of the trade that lead to a more sustainable business model.

Then the audience will break into a networking session and have the opportunity to browse through vendor tables offering solutions to the discussed challenges.

We are looking for Sponsors and Vendors. If you provide goods and services that help make the food service industry more sustainable this is an excellent opportunity to reach your audience!

Philly Eco Kids is a collective effort between Project EDU and the Students for Environmental Action. The program is currently running at the Paul Lawrence Dunbar Elementary School on 12th and Montgomery (behind the Student Center on Temple’s Campus). Volunteer teachers visit students in grades 5-8 (2 or 3 teachers visit each grade individually) during one of their science periods and educate the students about important environmental issues. The sessions run once a month and topics include global climate change, energy consumption, litter and waste, healthy eating, and more. If you are interested in getting involved, either with creating lesson plans or working with the kids, please contact Korin or Alex at phillyecokids@gmail.com. We ask that teachers stay committed for a full semester so as to build a relationship with the students. More volunteers will be needed for the spring semester, and the possible future expansion of the program. Background checks required (click here)
